What a lady! What a teacher! She taught both my sister and I in first grade as she did so many others. I will never forget some of the things she taught us not only reading, writing, and arithmetic, but about life and getting along with others. She definitely made an impact on my life and my education. I don't think she ever forget the name of a student she taught, even years later. Every time I saw her she asked about my sister, Ann, and my parents, Butch and Ola Lee Steuart. She always wanted to know if mother was still making peanut brittle. She will be missed.

To you Ms. Lois I will always remember you being my teacher. When my daughter ask me today if I knew Ms. Coggins I said certainly she taught me well my first year in school. May God Bless your family as he is blessing you now at his table.
Walter and Martha Johnson - November 28, 2011
Lois and J. C. Coggins were role models for Martha and me from the very first minute we met them. They seemed to be ordinary people with extraordinary outlooks on people and events. They contributed much to my personal and religious life. Lois, say hello to my lifemate, Martha, as you greet friends from this life who have gone to a better place with you.

I have many fond memories of Mrs. Coggins. I still remember my first day of school and how scared I was. She was wonderful with helping me overcome that fear. I still enjoy learning and I'm sure it's partly because of her. Thank you, Mrs. Coggins. Ann (Steuart) Hinton
